So far so good!My eight-year-old has been begging me for a phone because "all his friends have one"! I've made it clear that he's not getting one until he's at least 10 or 11, so this Xplora watch is a good option until then.It looks cool enough – pretty similar to an Apple Watch – and you can add wallpaper to the watch face so you can customise its look slightly.My son has had a great time calling me from everywhere he can (I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon!).The app is easy to use… you can add the contacts from your own list and add photos of the recipient. It doesn't have an alarm which would be handy but you can set the schedule to go off in the morning every weekday etc.You can set silent periods, for example, during school hours so your child cannot get calls when they're not allowed. The kids can phone you during the silent period however. My son called me during his lunch break to tell me all his friends wanted a watch now!You can send your kids messages too, but they can't reply unless they phone you.You can set auto position reports, which is customisable to report their location up to every hour etc.You can also set safety zones within 500m-2Km radius but I haven't set that yet.It's really a good deal too here on Amazon as the price for the Sim is included in the cost for a year.Some improvements I would suggest are:1) The kids could have pre-set replies when sent a message, similar to the Apple Watch which has set-up answers you can customise like: OK, On my way, not yet, Thanks2) The watch face has a choice of an analogue face or the digital 24-hour face. It would be good to have the digital face without the 24 hour option, i.e. 9am, 5.30pm. My son is getting used to 24 hours and gets confused!3) Alarms would be good.

Just plain great! Imagine being able to contact a vulnerable person, without having to rely on them remembering their phone, without having to buy them a phone contract, without having to tell them not to look at "bad stuff" on the internet, without them losing their phone - or having their phone taken from them - The XPLORA1 is perfect. The one I purchased was for my husband who has had a brain injury. He has total right side paralysis and wouldn't, mentally or physically, be able to work a regular mobile phone. He now goes to bed with the XPLORA on his right arm and can phone me (using one finger of left hand) in an emergency, or if he needs a cup of tea. I can go to the shop, 2 mins away, and know that he could phone if the house was on fire. Literally before the XPLORA I couldn't. I really think XPLORA are missing a whole market of disabled adults, autistic people, older folks - by aiming this product at children. Simply fantastic! Can't recommend enough. Only suggestion would be to make a larger strap for adult users /(*_*)\

This is amazing. Took a while for my son to stop calling us every 5mins. Once the novelty of being able to call for a chat wore off was brilliant. Ideally would be good to have a smaller safe zone setting. It is really quite accurate at locating a free spirit crazy 6yr old.I love that you can call him and he can call you. Easy to use. Son understands use too.Alarm button I hope he never needs.

The media could not be loaded.  I am very very disappointed with this product. We brought this product as a birthday gift for my daughter, and apart from the gps nothing else works. She can’t make calls, we can’t make calls to her it’s just a nightmare. So much money gone to waste!!!!With the same amount of money I could have brought her an iPhone watch.I will be returning it. Not happy at all

We ended up returning the watch as we couldn't get the watch to connect to a network or to a smartphone. Also, the limited functions were not appealing to our daughter, and she wanted to stick with her Garmin for the step count function.

I bought this for my son's 9th birthday. Now he loves his smart watch! I found it easy to set up and its very good quality, very sturdy. He can make calls to numbers that I approve using the app on my phone. It was excellent keeping track of him when we went to Legoland giving him a bit of freedom. I highly recommend it.

This doesnt work even in an area of supposed perfect reception. Xplora just said send it back. Terrible customer support - only online and in limited hours

Bought this for my adult son who is autistic and we wanted to be able to keep an eye on him during his travels. Fantastic product, really easy to set up and use. Xplora were really great when I contacted them with a question and couldn’t have done more to assist. Thoroughly recommend this five star product.
