Well built and very heavy. Instructions come in every single language of the world it seems...very confusing. Also the numbers could be made to stand out more as they are the same color as the box and hard to see especially in low light. Their step by step instructions are adequate. They also provide pictorial instructions which are a little more difficult to follow as they don't show every step. Mine came with an outdoor cover attached which is easy to open with the help of a plastic tab inserted between the box and cover. Once the tab is removed however and without the box mounted the cover is difficult to open as there is no place to grab and separate the two. I had to use a small screwdriver to open the cover.Also complete removal of the outdoor cover aids in installation as it is definitely in the way. Just apply a little outward pressure on the two plastic hinges and remove the cover. The combination buttons are easy to set but the on/off triangle markings on the inside of the box are also not easy to see as they imprinted in the black plastic. The buttons themselves also have triangle markings and these are easy to see. Also I found the cardboard tool you are to use to set the combination buttons could be a little longer. When you press down and turn the combination buttons using the tool there is not enough clearance between the sides of the box so you have to use a little more care. My box came with 4 wood mounting screws which I could not use as I mounted the box in concrete. The box is quite heavy and it's almost a two person job. All this being said it took a little time to get it all together but it turned out well in the end. It is a very strong box, easy to set the combination once you get the hang of it.

This is solidly made and feels like a quality product. We installed it for use by pet / house sitters when traveling. It comes with a mounting template which is helpful. Having two people to install is helpful, as the product is somewhat heavy and awkward to hold in place until two screws are installed.The downside of this device is that it's difficult to explain to people how to open it (an in person demonstration is best), and the button labels are difficult to read unless well lit. It's unlike any other common lock that people may be used to. The "quick" directions that some reviewers have shared are fine if no-one has messed with the lock, but to make sure the lock will open if the handle has been turned or a combination tried, the full usage directions are really:1. Flip black weather cover down using tab at top.2. Make sure "open" label on top black handle is upright. If not, rotate handle counter-clockwise until it clicks with the "open" label oriented the right way.3. Push the reset switch in the middle down and release, to reset code buttons.4. Enter the code by pushing the buttons. Make sure the buttons are pressed in all the way flush; gloves may interfere with this.5. Rotate the top black open handle clockwise until it stops and the metal cover pivots open.6. Remove key (may be hidden behind clear plastic door) and close metal cover; hold closed while rotating open black counterclockwise until it clicks with the "open" label oriented the right way.7. Flip up weather cover and push in until it snaps into place.It's not rocket science, but we ended up creating a step by step word document with photos to send our house/pet sitters. With a combination lock, everyone immediately gets it -- you enter the code, left to right, and the lock opens. With this device, there's more potential for confusion.

I bought a different Kidde model lock box, and the screws that came with it were so bad, and the instructions for drill bit size for masonry so confusing, I just sent it back. After reviewing more, I saw that this model here had clearer instructions for drilling into masonry, and so I assumed it would come with masonry screws. Nope. No masonry screws. Just wood screws. So I had to size and buy masonry screws before I could install it.Tip for the masonry screws: The Simpson Strong-Tie brand's Titen 1/4 in. diameter x 2-1/4 in. length Hex-Head Concrete and Masonry screws work. They are blue, got an 8-pack from Home Depot. Make sure you drill a tiny bit longer than the screw length - I measure the length on the drill bit and use tape on the bit to mark the length. You need to use carbide - or better, cobalt - bit to drill the hole. It's 3/16" drill bit.So, decent lock box, but Kidde stinks at their screw instructions and provision. Get it together, Kidde!

The Lock Box seems very strong, durable and easy to use. But the 4 X 2 " course threaded screws that supplied are not worth the metal they are made of. After pre-drilling the 4 holes for into the wood then using a hand screw driver to put the star bit screws in I managed to snap off the first screw as it tightened to the lock box down (these screw are probably Grade 2 screws very week metal). So with this in mind I would image that the screw could probably snap off if a hammer were to hit the side of the lock box and severe it from the pole. Go and purchase a small package of finer threaded #10 screws that are hardened steal like Grade 5 or higher which are self taping and a little longer in length. I have seen these poorly made screws before since I am a general contractor and they should never ever be used due the weak steal mixture that is not higher strength steel. So buyer-beware the lock box may be great but the screws are a very week point and screw you! I hope the manufacture will supply BETTER SCREWS in the future with enough complaints.

A great key safe. Easily holds a couple pairs of keys (have put 3 pairs of keys in here on occasion. Bought two of these safes about 9 months for my staff. They have been in continuous use, and am about to buy another.

It works great, just as described, the cover makes it very discreet.

Built tough and easy to use. However, the plastic weatherguard cover can come off easily and it doesn't take much to get the password (unskilled persons - under 2min).
