It really makes it easy
I was skeptical. I couldn't see how a simple knife would make it easier to score chestnuts for roasting. When I came to Amazon, I was looking for something more like a punch. But the price was right, so I bought it. And it works! Makes it so much easier and faster. Safer, too. Now that it's the holiday season, the local store is stocking chestnuts, and I'm glad to have my chestnut knife.

It came rusted at the tip. I️ might had gotten a used one. It going back. Don’t want to pay that price for a rusted one.

A cut above...
An Italian friend was complaining about cutting open roasted chestnuts, so I went to my go-to shop--Amazon--and there was this little beauty. I bought it for him as a Christmas present. He was SO EXCITED when he saw it! He went out, bought some chestnuts, roasted them, and VOILA--it works--and works to perfection. Highly recommended. (and those chestnuts were great and I didn't have to open a single one!)

Awesome little knife
Worked great for slicing into the chestnut shell before roasting and I'm sure that I will use it for other cutting needs as well.

The handle is made of wood just like the picture
It cuts open chestnuts! The handle is made of wood just like the picture! I guess we could have also used a tile cutter, but this was less expensive!

great general purpose kitchen utility knife
love these chestnut knives - good for scoring and peeling citrus, or for opening packages and boxes. just generally handy in the kitchen. The Lampson is a bit more expensive, but my first one has lasted > 15 years and still sharpens nicely.
